COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT RINAR
My nose is runny after applying RINAR. Is this normal?
It is normal for your nose to run for up to an hour after application and should stop after this time. The runny effect occurs because nerve endings in the nose are stimulated, causing blood vessels in the area to expand.
Does RINAR sting or burn?
Stinging or burning can occur and the extent to which one or both of these effects is experienced varies among individuals. The strength of active ingredient capsaicin, however, is much lower than that found in chilli pepper.
Will my sense of smell be affected by using RINAR?
RINAR should not affect your sense of smell.
What happens if I breathe in too deeply when using RINAR?
It is possible on occasions that the spray could reach the lung airways and lead to coughing, in much the same way a spicy meal can affect the throat. This should settle down quickly – if you are concerned speak to your healthcare professional.
What happens if I use more RINAR than is recommended?
You may experience an increased burning sensation and runny nose. These effects should improve with time, however if you have any concerns seek advice from your healthcare professional.
Can I continue using RINAR after the 3 day treatment course if my symptoms resolve?
RINAR should only be used if non-allergic rhinitis
symptoms are present. If your symptoms
resolve after the 3 day treatment course you
do not need to re-treat with RINAR unless
symptoms return. If your symptoms return,
you should wait at least 15 days before
re-treating with RINAR.
If symptoms persist, see your healthcare
professional.
If I have asthma, can I use RINAR for NAR symptoms?
There is potential for RINAR to irritate the airways. Seek advice from your healthcare professional before using RINAR if you have asthma or breathing difficulties.
Can I use RINAR while pregnant?
There are no known risks for use during pregnancy. However, as RINAR use has not been studied in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should seek medical advice from your healthcare professional.
Can I use other nasal sprays with RINAR?
It is recommended that you do not use
any other nasal spray during the 3 day
RINAR treatment course and until 1 day
after stopping RINAR use. Saline nasal
sprays may be used, but not until at least
2 hours after using RINAR so the
therapeutic effects of RINAR are not
reduced.
Seek advice from your healthcare
professional before using any other
nasal spray or medication for your
non-allergic rhinitis symptoms.
If my symptoms are caused by allergic rhinitis, can I use RINAR?
